OperationJack.com :: Sam's BlogOperation Jack is Sam Felsenfeld's attempt to run 60 marathons in 2010 to raise funds and awareness for Train 4 Autism. He chronicles his journey through his blog.http://www.operationjack.com/blogWeekend Preview: Grizzly MarathonI know I mention every week how the weeks fly by so quickly, but this time, it has been such a quick, quick week. My legs are still pretty wrecked from the hills of San Francisco, yet it's time to write another weekend preview blog. That's the blur that is Operation Jack. I'll be glad when I'm done, but I know I'll miss it, too. Whatever the case, I've got the Grizzly Marathon in Choteau, Montana on Saturday.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=207Thu, 29 Jul 2010 07:19:08 -070010 Random Things For TuesdayI didn't think I was going to write a 10 random things for Tuesday blog, but then I came up with 10 random things. And it's Tuesday. So here we go, 10 random things for Tuesday!http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=206Tue, 27 Jul 2010 07:13:51 -0700Life Happens When You\'re Busy Making PlansLife is what happens when you're busy making plans. I've heard that before and it was the case once again this weekend.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=205Mon, 26 Jul 2010 07:23:27 -0700Race Report: San Francisco MarathonI headed into the San Francisco Marathon expecting a big race, and while my run didn't go as I hoped, it was still a great day. I'll be quick with the details about this one, because my race was fairly forgettable. What I'll always remember about this one will be the gutsy runs of two Operation Jack supporters running their first marathons.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=204Sun, 25 Jul 2010 19:01:11 -0700Weekend Preview: San Francisco MarathonWell here we are, staring down the barrel of another weekend. Since the calendar says 2010, I guess that means I have a marathon to go run. This time, it's San Francisco. With my initials, I'm totally excited to run the SF Marathon!http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=203Fri, 23 Jul 2010 07:14:05 -0700I\'m Going To Stick With The Plan And See What HappensSo when I originally created this site, I planned on writing a blog so everybody could kind of follow along with me as I go through the process of running 61 marathons for charity this year. In a way, I don't really do that. I have a format (weekend recap on Monday, 10 random things on Tuesday, etc.) and I don't really blog about what I'm going through. So today, I'm going to stray from the format and stick with the purpose.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=202Wed, 21 Jul 2010 07:14:50 -0700Ten Random Things For TuesdayIt's Tuesday, time for 10 random things. I could spend some time trying to write a catchy intro to get you read the rest of this, but let's be real. It's 10 random things. Either you want to read it or you don't. If you don't want to read it, I suggest you change your mind. And hey, Justin Bieber made my blog today!http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=201Tue, 20 Jul 2010 07:09:49 -0700Weekend Recap: I Like This PathOh, what a weekend — exhausting and HOT. But I had a great family day yesterday and through it all, I had wonderful experiences and witnessed more proof (not that I needed it) that I'm being led down a wonderful path. The Operation Jack train is still headed down the track and I got to spend a full day with my four favorite people in the world. It doesn't get much better than that.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=200Mon, 19 Jul 2010 07:19:32 -0700Race Report: University of Okoboji MarathonThe dog days of summer continued for me Saturday at the University of Okoboji Marathon in Okoboji, Iowa. With high humidity and temps crawling from the low 70s at the start to the high 80s by the finish, I had a rough day on a rough day.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=199Sat, 17 Jul 2010 16:36:55 -0700I\'m Not Running 60 Marathons This YearYou want your week to go by quickly? Miss a flight on Sunday and take a flight on Friday. Then, you'll only have three days to get you work done. Throw in a few days of Mr. Mom and a $20,000 contest win for your charity and you have a complete blur. But here we are, Thursday. It's time for a weekend preview blog, plus an announcement.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=198Thu, 15 Jul 2010 07:21:14 -0700Chase Recap: THANK YOU!Well, now that we're about 1 1/2 days removed from the Chase Community Giving contest, I figured I'd write a post-mortem recap about it. It was an amazing experience and I think the whole process we went through is worthy of a blog.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=197Wed, 14 Jul 2010 06:46:19 -0700Weekend Recap: I Was Bound To Miss A Flight, Right?Normally, I run a weekend recap on Mondays and move into 10 random things on Tuesdays. But my wife, Tiffany, wanted to write a guest blog for yesterday, so I ran that instead. Plus, my weekend was inadvertently extended a day, so I'm just going to go ahead and run my weekend recap today. I have a tiny bit of information about the Chase Community Giving contest we've been involved in, but for the most part, I'm going to cover that in-depth tomorrow.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=196Tue, 13 Jul 2010 06:52:40 -0700Guest Blog: Tiff Speaks Out About JackTiff told me last week she wanted to write a guest blog for today, so I said no problem. These blogs take time to write, so I'll gladly take a break! Plus, I missed my flight home yesterday and got stuck in Spokane, Wash., so I guess that as of posting this, my weekend isn't over so I can't really post a weekend recap, right?http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=195Mon, 12 Jul 2010 06:31:57 -0700Race Report: Missoula MarathonI was nervous heading into Sunday's Missoula Marathon with my assignment of pacing the first half of the 3:10 group. I don't doubt my ability to hit 13.1 in 1:35, but it's not easy work and I put a lot of pressure on myself when it comes to pacing for other runners. I found out a little more than seven hours before the start of the race that my assignment was switched to pacing the 3:50 group for the entire race. Believe it or not, that made me even more nervous!http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=194Sun, 11 Jul 2010 16:55:31 -0700Weekend Preview: Missoula MarathonI normally post my weekend previews on Thursday, but I didn't get done with everything I was doing until close to midnight on Wednesday, so there was no time to write anything. Better late than never, right? I've got my weekend preview, contest information plus my take on LeBron James (as if my opinion on this matters).http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=193Fri, 09 Jul 2010 07:17:58 -0700Quick Announcement For ThursdayOK, so I don't really have the most exciting blog I've ever written for today, but I do have something quick I need to get across to y'all.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=192Thu, 08 Jul 2010 13:15:15 -070010 Random Things For WednesdayI love holidays. I've only put in eight hours at the office so far this week and it's already Wednesday! Wait … I've only put in eight hours at the office so far this week and I have to start carb loading again tomorrow. Hmmm, that's no bargain. Oh well, my weekend recap was yesterday, which means today is time for 10 random things.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=191Wed, 07 Jul 2010 07:22:04 -0700Weekend Recap: Some Bad, Mostly GoodWith three days of weekend to cover in a weekend recap blog, I could write about 10,000 words. But I'd rather let 11 pictures do most of the talking — that's worth 11,000 words, right? I'll still write a little bit and throw some bad jokes your way, though. Happy first day of a short week!http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=190Tue, 06 Jul 2010 07:06:56 -0700Race Report: Foot Traffic Flat MarathonHeading into Operation Jack, I knew there would come a day that I would have zero desire to run, that I'd wonder why I came up with the idea to try to run 60 marathons this year, I'd wish I was anywhere but at the start line of a marathon and I'd view my race as 26.2 miles of nothing but work. Well, Sunday was that day, and the Foot Traffic Flat Marathon on Portland, Oregon's Suavie Island was the race.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=189Sun, 04 Jul 2010 20:13:25 -0700Operation Jack: Reflections On Year 1Yesterday marked a year since I launched Operation Jack. I did a lot of planning in the spring of 2009, then launched this site on July 1 last year to give myself six months to build a base. It hasn't gone exactly as I expected, but I didn't know what to expect, so that's to be expected. Or something like that.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=188Fri, 02 Jul 2010 08:04:45 -070010 Random Things For WednesdayI normally write 10 random things for Tuesday, although really, I've been pretty out of my weekly routine lately and writing my "random things" column on Wednesdays. And that's the case again this week. It's Wednesday, time for 10 random things for Tuesday. Or something like that.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=187Wed, 30 Jun 2010 06:48:46 -0700A Charity Runner Who Completed An AMAZING Feat!Normally, I use my blog to promote my cause and my charity, but today, I'm going to use my space to promote another charity runner who did something amazing this past weekend. Well, don't get me wrong — I still have some things I need to promote. But I really want you to read this today to read about an incredible runner.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=186Tue, 29 Jun 2010 07:40:54 -0700Halfway To 18 ... Really?I was going to write my standard weekly recap for Monday, since it's Monday, but for reasons that I'll explain, I had to stray from that for today. I have some nuggets from the weekend for tomorrow. Today, I'm going to be talking a little bit about my son Benjamin's birthday. He turned 9 yesterday and we had a great day, which is going to be the subject of today's blog.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=185Mon, 28 Jun 2010 07:52:38 -0700Race Report: Seattle Rock \'N Roll MarathonAfter about a month of struggling in my marathons, I finally executed a plan well Saturday in the Seattle Rock 'N Roll Marathon. Despite treating it as somewhat of a training run, I finished with my eighth-fastest time of the year and regained some confidence I've lost.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=184Sat, 26 Jun 2010 21:47:33 -0700Weekend Preview: Seattle Rock \'N Roll MarathonIt's Thursday, again, which means it's time for a weekend preview, again. I'm running a marathon again and having a contest again. Wow, that was annoying. I'm heading to Seattle this weekend for the Rock 'N Roll Marathon up there. I'm having my weekly contest, but I'm also going with something different this week, too.http://www.operationjack.com/blog/index.php?bi=183Thu, 24 Jun 2010 08:19:06 -0700
